the house

The house is a 6+2  person stone built “penty” in the middle of the village of Le Veniec.  It has been renovated sensitively by the owners, using natural materials and soft lime renders, wooden floors have been sealed using beeswax and linseed oil which gives the house a very “organic” feel. Upstairs, there are tantalising glimpses of the sea through the roofs of neighbouring houses and sound of the surf is ever present.

The main living area is a very large  (9x4.5m) light, airy room. Two pairs of french windows open directly onto a small private garden which has an outdoor eating area and barbecue.

At one end there's a well equipped "cooks" kitchen/dining area (dishwasher, four ring gas burner, oven, fridge-freezer, good quality saucepans, etc.), at the other, a very comfortable living area. A combi-gas boiler delivers plentiful hot water (and central heating if needed) and there is a small utility space with washing machine and tumbler dryer.

Accommodation consists of three upstairs bedrooms and a duel purpose room downstairs.

A double and a smaller twin bedroom (more suitable for children) share a staircase (stairgate available), walk-in shower, toilet and handbasin and create an ideal family suite.

The other large double bedroom has a separate staircase with an en-suite bathroom. All the bedrooms are very light and airy with velux windows on both sides of the roof.

Downstairs,  the study can be used as a small quiet living room but has a double “sofa-bed”, toilet and small shower. We find 8 adults a bit of a squash but the option is useful for larger families or if friends want to pop by during your stay and, if you don't mind a busy household, the house is equipped for 8. There is also a cot suitable for children up to the age of 5 and a single futon that can serve as an extra bed for an older child.

There's no TV but there is a dvd player and screen and a decent selection of DVD's in the house, lots of books for kids and adults, a good selection of games and internet. Outside there's a private sheltered garden that is starting to mature nicely now and a larger green space in front of the house that's big enough for a kick about for younger kids - the mile and a half of the beach just down the road gives bigger kids all the space they need for - well - anything!

Duvets and pillows are provided and we can arrange linen hire locally with the concierge. Well behaved pets and children are welcome - so are smokers - but, much as we hate to kick persecuted minorities, only if the smoke stays outside!
